이미 브라이언 메이와 로저 테일러는 전 '베드 컴퍼니' 싱어였고 2005년 공연을 같이 했던 폴 로저스와 앨범을 낸다고 언급은 했었다.
새로운 앨범에 대해 브라이언 메이는 이렇게 말했다. "우리는 그냥 별 준비없이 녹음실에 들어갔습니다. 한번 어떻게 되나 보자라는 심정으로 말이죠. 우리는 이미 공연을 통해 서로 잘 맞는다는 확신을 가지고 있는 상태였기 때문에 그렇게 할수 있었죠. 별 준비 없이 시작했지만 몇곡을 녹음했고 아주 괜찮은 곡들이 나왔습니다.""곡들은 이전 퀸의 곡들과는 아주 다르고 폴 로저스가 했던 곡들과도 물론 다릅니다."
브라이언 메이는 이 새로운 곡들이 다음 퀸 공연에 더욱 활력을 불어넣을 것이라고 록 라디오 인터뷰에서 말했습니다.
"다음 공연에서는 우리가 단지 향수를 자극하는 노래를 하는것이 아니라 '이것이 퀸이다'라고 할수 있는 곡들을 연주할 것입니다."
퀸의 마지막 앨범은 1995년에 나온 '메이드 인 헤븐'이고 프레디 머큐리가 죽기전 녹음된 곡들로 만들어 졌었다.

Rock legends record first new album since 1995
Queen have discussed the progress of their new album.As previously reported, band members Brian May and Roger Taylor have joined forced with former Free and Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers, who joined them on tour in 2005, to make a new record.
Speaking about the record, May said: "We went in the studio... to see what happens, because we've already tested it pretty good on stage and that works great... And we went in almost unprepared...and came up with some tracks, which I think are really great.
"They're very different, they're very unlike anything that we've done, or anything that Paul's (Rodgers) done."
May told The Rock Radio that the new material will bolster their set when the band tour again.
He said: "It's gonna be good, because next time we go out (on tour), we won't just be nostalgia, we will be: 'This is what we are.'"
The band last released an album in 1995. 'Made In Heaven' was created using vocals Freddie Mercury left behind prior to his death in 1991.
